SEK Lab selects the most innovative edtech startups to be part of its eighth edition

SEK Lab, the SEK Education Group’s education startup accelerator, held the 2022 SEK Lab Awards. At the event edtech startups from Spain and abroad were selected to be part of their eighth program.

The objective of SEK Lab is to support and promote the most innovative initiatives in education and reward entrepreneurs who work to transform society. This edition’s finalist startups joined the forthcoming SEK Lab acceleration program.

Each of the startups met requirements such as having a validated product or service, dedicated full-time team with one to five years’ experience, traction and sales, global ambition, as well as seeking to generate a positive social impact and bring true innovation to the education sector.

At the event held at Camilo José Cela University’s Almagro Campus the entrepreneurs were given five minutes to present their projects to the panel of judges who selected the eleven most innovative and disruptive startups, considering their originality, impact on education, scalability and draw for investors. The ten winning startups of the eighth edition of the SEK Lab Awards were:

Caza tu plaza: a SaaS specialised in public administration entrance exams meeting the needs of academies, making their content profitable and adding value to their students.

EONESIA: We create immersive experiences as a tool to measure, review or evaluate knowledge in a gamified way.

Glifing: Method of learning to read with our own technology, based on scientific evidence and endorsed by over 200,000 users.

Langoo: Personalises the preparation of language certification exams in an online and flexible way, focusing on automatic corrections of speaking and writing, allowing the student to improve in a very short time.

Leemons: The learning experience design platform that ignites and expands the power of teachers to change lives.

Muse Scene Lab: An immersive education platform that allows musicians to practice and interact with an orchestra of avatars using virtual and augmented reality.

Neuromindset: A digital cognitive training platform for the classroom through which teachers are given a digital training curriculum in order to train and enhance children’s attention and self-regulation within the classroom context.

Qualla Kids: The first solution that unites all the actors of any children’s activity in a single click; complementing with new platforms. Qualla also provides proof of authorisation for people picking up students from school.

Vidext: Facilitates the creation of audiovisual content through a platform that allows you to create videos at scale, without the recording process and in more than forty-five languages.

WordList Visual Learning: Visual language learning, with innovative technology and the largest collection of visual flashcards in the world with 25,000 illustrated concepts

Zynergic: Helping schools understand, develop and empower the characteristics that make each student unique through data-based decisions.

Through SEK Lab, SEK Education Group offers edtech startups six month acceleration, during which they will have access in the Edtech Space, a coworking space in the centre of Madrid, they will have free access to the best IT solutions from our sponsors (hosting, CRM, software…) and field testing their business in a purely educational ecosystem, made up of students from birth to 30 years of age and teachers from SEK International Schools and Camilo José Cela University.

Entrepreneurs will also have access to a network of partners, and they will have mentoring sessions with more than thirty expert mentors in education, technology or business development. They will attend masterclasses from great professionals in the sector from whom they will receive advice on law, finance, business models, technology, growth hacking, lean sales, communication and marketing. In addition, ‘seklabers’ will be invited to networking events, to different awards and they will enjoy discounts from our sponsors at the end of the program, as well as the possibility of SEK Education Group being their first client or customer.
