RULER is a Social-Emocional learning approach applicable from Early Childhood to Baccalaureate. It is developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and all SEK Education Group schools integrate its main tools into their daily lives, thanks to the collaboration between Camilo José Cela University and Yale University. The RULER approach is made up of different resources that help us:
The RULER Approach is a scientific-based program and there is extensive evidence that has shown its effectiveness in mental health, well-being and school climate indicators. The implementation of the RULER approach improves students’ emotional well-being, they learn appropriate strategies to manage emotions such as stress, sadness or anger..
RULER reduces conflicts and improves school climate, students recognise and understand the emotions of others in a more empathetic way.
In addition, it fosters students’ academic performance, since teachers promote an atmosphere of learning where emotions are validated and recognised, and where effective regulation strategies are facilitated to achieve the maximum learning potential.

Why do we work on Social-Emocional learning approach at SEK International Schools?
Because we care about emotions and they are present in our daily lives. They influence the personal and academic lives of our students and guide their thoughts and their relationships with others. And this not only happens with young people, it also impacts adults. It is easy to remember a time when emotions made it difficult to make a decision or perform a task effectively. Emotions can even hinder or sequester our mental resources. Emotions influence our attention, memory, learning, decision making, influence the quality of relationships, as well as, in our mental and physical health.
