Javier Lliso, skier from Madrid and former SEK-Ciudalcampo and Camilo José Cela University student, attained sixth place in the final of the new Big Air freestyle category at the Winter Olympics being held in the Chinese city of Beijing.
The former student on the Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at UCJC won the first Olympic diploma for the Spanish delegation in this newly minted category in the Winter Olympics, new for Beijing 2022.
Lliso won 171.50 points in two out of three best jumps, taking sixth in the final classification. The winner, and gold medallist, was the Norwegian Birk Ruud with 187.75 points, while the silver went to the American Colby Stevenson with 183 points and the bronze for the Swede Henrik Harlaut with 181 points.
This is the tenth diploma in the history of winter sports for Spanish athletes. The final two to achieve it were precisely Queralt Castellet, in PyeongChang 2018, and Lucas Eguibar, Sochi 2014, both also part of the Spanish delegation this year. Precisely, another former student of SEK Education Group, in this case of SEK-Catalunya, Quim Salarich, was also part of the Spanish team for these Winter Olympics in Beijing 2022.
Lliso, Spanish and European champion (at Meribel), talked about his great passion for freestyle and freeski in an interview in 2018 at Camilo José Cela University.
