SEK International Schools have achieved excellent results in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (PD) this year. A total of 89.6% of SEK students obtained the Diploma, when the world average is 78.8% according to the latest data from May 2017.
79.2% of graduates have obtained a global score of more than 30 points -the maximum possible grade is 45- and of them, a group of 13 students has achieved outstanding marks: one has obtained 44 points and 3 have reached a score of 43.
SEK Education Group is a pioneer in Spain in offering the IB Diploma since 1977. SEK celebrated the 40th anniversary of IB programmes at its schools.
SEK Schools are the only schools in Spain authorised to teach the three IB programmes. These programmes are taught alongside the national curriculum, in a common and recognised teaching framework for each programme and offering a coherent structure in terms of objectives and values.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme prepares students for university, encourages them to learn to learn, to ask themselves questions, develop their own personality and acquire the ability to understand and appreciate cultural diversity. Currently over a million students from 4,600 schools in 140 countries are taking IB study programmes.
One of its main characteristics, as well as its academic rigour, is that it enables students to access the most prestigious universities in Spain and abroad. Having completed and passed the IB, students will have a qualification officially recognised as equivalent to the Spanish LOMCE Bachillerato and the final Bachillerato exam. The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB) offers international educational programmes for a community of schools around the world that are authorised as “IB schools” through ongoing, exhaustive and rigorous assessment.
