For the first time, SEK International School El Castillo has taken on the organization of the Náboj Mathematics Competition at the national level. The event took place on Friday, March 13, at the Almagro Campus of Universidad Camilo José Cela, where ten teams from some of the top-performing schools in mathematics across the country gathered.
The participating schools included IES Ramiro de Maeztu, Liceo Sorolla, Colegio Arturo Soria, Colegio Retamar, The English Montessori School (TEMS), SEK-Ciudalcampo, and SEK-El Castillo, which entered two teams in the competition.
In this edition, IES Ramiro de Maeztu claimed first place. The two teams from SEK-El Castillo delivered a strong performance, finishing in 5th and 6th place respectively, demonstrating both their high level and strong teamwork.
An initiative with continuity
Náboj is a prestigious international mathematics and physics competition held for years in numerous countries across Europe and Asia. Originally founded in Slovakia, the contest is known for its collaborative dynamic and competitive format, in which teams must solve as many problems as possible within a limited time.
This year, the competition was held simultaneously in countries such as Croatia, Poland, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Singapore, Romania, Portugal, Iran, and Spain, among others.
In its Physics category, SEK-El Castillo recently achieved first place at the national level, reinforcing the school’s commitment to excellence in STEM fields.
The organization of the competition was a success both in terms of participation and execution, and SEK-El Castillo aims to establish this venue as an annual event, further strengthening its role as a national benchmark in mathematics and in the promotion of high-level academic activities.
