SEK Education Group and the Spanish Sports Association sign a collaboration agreement

Nieves Segovia, President of SEK Education Group and José Hidalgo, President of the Spanish Sports Association (ADESP) signed an agreement at the University Camilo José Cela Almagro Campus for both institutions to collaborate in the organisation of educational activities in all the fields they operate in.

As part of this agreement, both institutions will launch joint ongoing education courses, generating a IESEK-ADESP Seal of Excellence in order to certify all courses. Furthermore, both institutions will jointly organise seminars and courses for executives, official technicians and athletes.

Nieves Segovia highlighted the importance of the agreement ‘allowing us to help, through the SEK International Sports Academy, athletes and coaching staff of federations with quality international education and with flexible timetables for SEK El Castillo and University Camilo José Cela students to combine sports and education.’

José Hidalgo remarked that ‘it is very important for the Association to have a partner for training and education like SEK Education Group, it affords us a seal of quality and prestige in training activities with Spanish federation executives, in order to continue to improve their work.’

Both institutions will also collaborate on the development of specific programmes for sport and disability, women in sport, and any others included in the agreement and stemming from a joint needs assessment.

This agreement also includes a scholarship and grant programme for SEK Group athletes and sports coaches members of ADESP. SEK will also offer, through their corresponding sports programme, a specific programme of SEK International Sports Academy grants for high-performance athletes to study at University Camilo José Cela, covering between 20% and 50% of the matriculation costs and 20% of halls of residence costs.

Athletes can also opt for the SEK International Sports Academy programme, with a personalised tracking of their degree from tutors, in addition to a range of services to combine their training and tournaments with studying a degree.

‘We are very happy that an educational institution like SEK is concerned with such a vital aspect of our athletes’ lives as is their education. We will jointly ensure a better future for our athletes, coaches and executives.

‘It is the start of a different and demanding academic and sporting project that will enable both institutions to launch a specific programme for university athletes’ professional development that will enable them to successfully tackle an uncertain and global job market’, added Nieves Segovia.
