SEK International School Catalunya has been authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Career-related Programme (CP) starting in the 2026/27 academic year, thereby expanding its educational offer within the framework of the international curriculum. With this addition, the school becomes the first school in Catalonia accredited to deliver all four programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organization for students aged 3 to 18.
As a result, SEK-Catalunya will offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), and the Career-related Programme (CP), consolidating a comprehensive educational pathway based on the IB pedagogical model. In addition, the school has obtained IB Continuum accreditation, a recognition that ensures coherence and continuity across the four programmes and guarantees a smooth transition between educational stages.
The Career-related Programme (CP) is designed for students aged 16 to 19 and combines the academic rigor of the International Baccalaureate with a clear professional orientation. Its aim is to provide students with a solid foundation that facilitates both access to university and entry into the professional world, while allowing them to specialize in a vocational field as they develop academic and professional competencies.
The programme promotes students’ intellectual, personal, and professional development through a curriculum that integrates several educational components. These include the study of at least two subjects from the Diploma Programme, alongside a career-related study pathway aligned with the student’s interests.
The CP curriculum also includes four core components designed to support students’ holistic development. The Reflective Project invites students to investigate and analyze an ethical dilemma related to their chosen professional field. The Personal and Professional Skills component helps students develop key competencies such as self-management, leadership, ethics, and planning for their academic and professional future.
In addition, the programme incorporates language and cultural studies, aimed at strengthening communication skills and intercultural understanding in academic and professional contexts, as well as a community engagement component, which promotes learning experiences based on action and reflection with a positive social impact.
