Three SEK-Alborán Students Participate in the World Robot Olympiad in Turkey

Three students from SEK-Alborán, members of the school’s robotics team “Green Tech Farm,” have been selected to represent their province in the international final of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), held in Turkey. The students will compete against participants from 95 countries in an event that promotes innovation and technological learning through robotics.

The students qualified after winning the national championship in their category, held in Huércal de Almería. In the international competition, they will have to build robots from dismantled parts and adapt to unexpected rules and missions, testing their creativity, technical skills, and ability to perform under pressure.

The World Robot Olympiad aims to inspire young people in fields such as engineering and programming, fostering problem-solving skills and environmental sustainability, which is the main theme of this edition. Participants must design innovative solutions to address current global challenges, such as environmental conservation.

The Almería Provincial Government has expressed its support for the teams, emphasizing the importance of their participation in showcasing local talent and the relevance of STEM education in developing key future competencies. A total of six students from Almería will represent the province at the World Robot Olympiad in Turkey.

“You are an example for the province, and thanks to your dedication, Almería will be represented in this great educational competition. From the provincial government, we offer you our full support, and we stand behind you in your goal of bringing home the championship. Above all, I am sure you will give your very best to make it happen,” stated José Antonio García, Vice President of the Almería Provincial Government and Provincial Deputy for Sports, Healthy Living, and Youth.
