His Majesty King Felipe VI received today, in an audience held at the Palacio de La Zarzuela, a delegation representing the institutions behind the publication Felipe VI. Profiles of a Decade (2014–2024), a commemorative volume that reviews the first ten years of His Majesty’s reign.
Among those present was Jaime Olmedo, Rector of the Camilo José Cela University (UCJC), who played a prominent role as coordinator of the book, a joint initiative by the Royal Academy of History and the Standing Council of the Spanish Nobility, with the support of the Ramón Areces Foundation and MAPFRE Foundation.
The Director of the Royal Academy of History, Carmen Iglesias, formally presented the first copy of the book to His Majesty during the ceremony, in which the King expressed his gratitude to the institutions and individuals who contributed to the project.
The publication brings together a collection of scholarly essays grouped into two major sections: “Felipe VI and the Royal Family” and “Historical Context”, with contributions from renowned historians and scholars, including full members of the Academy such as Hugo O’Donnell, Feliciano Barrios, Carmen Sanz Ayán, José Luis Díez, Jaime de Salazar, Octavio Ruiz-Manjón, Enrique Moradiellos, and Jaime Olmedo himself.
The volume aims to serve as a reference work for understanding the context, institutional role, and evolution of the Spanish Monarchy over the past decade, offering a rigorous and multifaceted perspective on the figure of the King and his national and international standing.
