F1 in Schools national competition champions shine at Microsoft GSIC Global Summit

The Wizink Center in Madrid has hosted the Global Sports Innovation Center (GSIC) Summit, promoted by Microsoft, where the XISPA team from SEK-Catalunya, recent Spanish champion in the MadCup F1 in Schools competition, has played a prominent role. Attendees have been able to learn about their work first-hand before they represent Spain in the world finals to be held in November in Saudi Arabia.

This educational project not only involves the design and manufacture of miniature Formula 1 cars, but also requires students to acquire key skills in presenting the project, finding sponsors to make it viable, and designing a marketing and communication plan. In addition, students work side by side with active engineers and Formula 1 professionals, giving them a unique experience of practical learning linked to the reality of the industry.

During the event, XISPA has shown its innovations in a pit display, as well as performing demonstrations on the race tracks. These types of initiatives, which link sport and technology, allow students to apply their knowledge in real projects, aligning with SEK’s educational model.

As promoted by our SEK Future Learning Model (FLM), students must have autonomy and self-directed learning. Thus, projects such as F1 in Schools offer students the opportunity to develop self-management skills and co-create innovative solutions, reflecting the practical and motivating approach.
