Camilo José Cela University brings university learning to all stages of life with ‘Arcadia’, a space for humanistic learning

Camilo José Cela University presents Arcadia, Open Classroom of Culture, an innovative lifelong learning program designed for those who wish to continue their education throughout their lives.

Arcadia focuses on fostering the Humanities through a unique and distinctive program in Madrid. Instead of conventional classes, it offers a cycle of lectures and masterclasses delivered by highly prestigious specialists, selected both for their academic excellence and for their ability to communicate and engage with the public.

The program will take place at Camilo José Cela University’s campus at 5 Almagro Street in Madrid, from Monday to Thursday, with each day dedicated to a specific field: World History, Spanish Literature, History of Spain, and Art History. The program offers flexibility to participants, who may enroll by individual modules if they wish.

With this initiative, Camilo José Cela University opens its doors to all those interested in broadening their cultural horizons, discovering new fields of knowledge, and taking part in university life. Arcadia was created in response to growing social demand from individuals who view education as a continuous and enriching process that accompanies all stages of life.

Under the vision of its Rector, Jaime Olmedo—who promotes a university where digital innovation is combined with humanistic values—Arcadia goes beyond traditional teaching. “It is not only about transmitting knowledge, but also about cultivating reflection, curiosity, critical thinking, and cultural and social engagement,” he emphasized.

In this way, Camilo José Cela University positions itself as one of the few universities in Spain to offer a continuing education program with a strong humanistic focus, open to learners of all ages.
