Under the motto #ESELMOMENTO, the B Corp movement, and SEK Education Group as the only education group in Spain belonging to it, has celebrated this Friday the fifth edition of B GOOD DAY, with over 1,300 followers.
The morning featured several talks by the CEO of CAPSA Foods, José Armando Tellado or Mónica Chao, president of WAS Women Action Sustainability. The President of SEK Group, Nieves Segovia, stressed in her speech the importance of education in these uncertain times, since “educational institutions are a space for hope and certainty”, as well as their fundamental role in generating a change in society and on the planet. She urged us to believe in young people, because “they have the interest, talent and sensitivity” to face the crises that society faces. “Young people know where the problems lie, and they want to solve them. We must be facilitators and try to accompany these changes from education and society”, insisted Nieves Segovia.
She assured listeners that more and more students are carrying out social impact projects in their classrooms and stressed the importance of promoting greater social awareness about education because she considers that “it has focused exclusively on schools and teachers” despite the fact that it is a duty of society as a whole. She pointed out the importance of incorporating related content into the curriculum, as SEK Group is doing, and stressed how through content and projects related to the SDGs, it is a time that has been described as “unique” and “unrepeatable” to meet the 2030 Agenda.
The event, which took place online, included among its guests the High-Level Climate Action Champion for COP 25, Gonzalo Muñoz, and the journalist Ana Pastor, who agreed that society is facing “an unprecedented crisis” but that it represents “an opportunity” to become the “moment of contribution.” Organisations such as Chiesi, ECOALF, CAPSA Foods or the General Director of Policies for Compliance with the 2030 Agenda, Gabriel Castañares, participated during the event.
Participation by our students and SEK Lab Junior
Young people and students from SEK Schools that actively took part with their ideas and projects in SEK Lab Junior, Raquel Arce, Paula Cosgaya, Paulina Flores, Jimena Jiménez and Carolina Shlegel, sat on the panel entitled Las generaciones del futuro nos enseñan su visión (Future generations show us their vision), and called, together with other young activists, for greater awareness of the situation on the planet. “There are people who are not aware of the situation, but we know that more and more of us are aware of the situation and we must do more. Now is the time to move, to act. We cannot stand still,” they said alongside Olivia and Lucia, from the Jane Goodall Institute educational programme.
Finally, the Director of the Master’s Degree in Impact Entrepreneurship at Camilo José Cela University, David Martin, took part in one of the day’s workshops, entitled Educación como acelerador del cambio (Education as an accelerator of change), with the participation of Verónica Devenin from B Academics, Alfred Vernis from ESADE and Jatinder J. Singh from EADA.
