At SEK Global Campus, we received a heartfelt message from Maya, Mohini’s mother, which beautifully illustrates the profound impact the IB Online Programme has had on her daughter’s academic and personal development. Her story is a powerful testament to the transformative potential of this innovative educational model.

Global education, anywhere: the vision behind IB Online

At SEK Education Group, we believe education must be accessible, innovative, and globally connected. That’s why we created the IB Online Programme — an online International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) that brings world-class education to students, wherever they are. For Mohini, a student living in Auroville, India, this online programme was more than just schooling — it became a personal and academic journey that opened doors to her future.

Real-world learning through IB Online

Mohini lives in a community that values sustainable development and alternative education. Her mother, Maya Berggreen-Clausen, an educator and researcher in 21st-century learning, describes how the IB Online Programme aligned perfectly with their values.

“From borewells, to reafforestation, to carbon footprints, she has learnt so much about her community, linking this to global issues,” Maya writes. “The IBDP is truly an educational programme for the world today, while most other high school diplomas are still educating for the past.”

Academic depth and personal growth in the IB Online journey

Through IB subjects, internal assessments (IAs), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the CAS project, Mohini was constantly challenged to think critically and creatively.

“I have over and over again been so impressed by the depth of the assignments,” Maya shares. “They have captured Mohini’s interest, curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. They also made her step out of her comfort zones.”

Digital tools that empower: a key benefit of IB Online

As a student with dyslexia, Mohini found the online education format a powerful ally. Maya notes how she used digital tools meaningfully, including ChatGPT, not to replace thinking, but to enhance learning.

“She is a person who likes to examine things critically… ChatGPT helped her create study tools in a healthy and meaningful way.”

Connection and care, even in a virtual setting

Despite being online, the programme nurtured strong relationships between teachers and students. Maya highlights the warmth and personal care shared through the screen.

“I have studied online myself, but what you all have created is outstanding. Caroline’s (one of Mohini’s teachers) laughter and joy became part of our home. I will miss hearing your voices in the background.”

Listening to students: co-creation at the heart of IBDP Online

Mohini’s mother, Maya, an advocate of democratic education, was especially moved by how the programme valued student voice and feedback.

“You (teachers) listened to Mohini’s interests and needs, and improved the programme together with the students. That’s what real education should be — co-created and responsive.”

Access and opportunity: how IB Online reaches more students

A full scholarship from SEK made it possible for Mohini to join the IB Online Programme — something Maya is deeply grateful for.

“Without it, I would not have had the financial means to give her this opportunity… Thank you for giving her this gift.”

A future transformed by IB online

At only 16, Mohini has graduated with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to pursue her dreams — shaped by a programme that respects individuality, challenges limits, and connects students to a global learning community.

“She has formed as a strong, engaged, independent and self-driven young person,” Maya concludes. “Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”

IB Online is more than a diploma — it’s a transformational experience that empowers young people like Mohini to thrive academically, grow personally, and connect meaningfully with the world around them.
