Tánaiste Simon Harris visits SEK International School Dublin and praises its positive impact on the Greystones community

Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Harris, visited SEK International School Dublin today, located in Greystones, to learn first-hand about the educational and social work the school has been carrying out for over four decades as an active part of the local community.

During his visit, Mr. Harris was welcomed by the school’s management team, teachers, and students, who presented some of the school’s most notable projects — among them, the Real Madrid Foundation Programme, a unique initiative in Europe that promotes values such as teamwork, equality, and solidarity through sport.

Mr. Harris congratulated the SEK-Dublin community for its commitment to excellence and its contribution to the educational and social development of Greystones. He also highlighted the importance of initiatives like this one, which “not only encourage healthy habits among young people but also strengthen community bonds and promote inclusion.”

The visit also included a discussion about the school’s project to build new football facilities that will be open for both educational and community use, reinforcing the school’s role as a hub for local cooperation and a meeting place for families in the area.

In addition, SEK International School Dublin actively collaborates with other schools in Greystones and County Wicklow on a variety of joint programmes and activities, especially within the Transition Year (TY) Programme, fostering the exchange of experiences, pedagogical innovation, and the creation of shared opportunities for students across the region.

The SEK-Dublin educational community expressed its gratitude for Simon Harris’s visit and reaffirmed its commitment to an education grounded in innovation, as well as to continuing its contribution to the well-being and development of the Greystones community.
