Family and Parent Workshops: Cybersecurity for users and families

Cybersecurity is within everyone’s reach. You are not always aware of it, but each of us plays a fundamental role in our own cybersecurity. 95% of security incidents that occur are due to human factors, users themselves give information to cybercriminals without even realizing it.

Therefore, each of us must adopt a series of good practices to protect our privacy and all our sensitive and private information and devices. The Family and Parent Workshop entitled Cybersecurity for users and families was given by Manuel Valero Scassi, Head of Projects and Cybersecurity at Scassi Cybersecurity and SEK Education Group advisor.

Cybersecurity aims to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information from malicious individuals or organisations. Users are the first line of defence to protect their privacy and personal information from these threats.

Users are faced with a whole range of social engineering and deception techniques aimed at finding out personal information without their knowledge or consent.  To battle these malicious techniques, Manuel Valero wanted to bring cybersecurity closer to the participants in the new Family and Parent Workshop.

During this workshop he reviewed the skills and knowledge that everyone can apply to prevent and detect cyber-attacks and protect their information. To do this he gave a full breakdown of the risks and tools to combat them, through six specific sections: Cybersecurity in the digital age; The human factor; Social engineering; Account protection; Privacy and social networks and Safe Internet browsing.
